HATTERTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
Minutes of the special meeting July 15, 2010
Present: Commissioners: Bruce Degen, Christine Degen, Michelle Rosenthal, Alternate: Mark Alexander, District residents: Joel Malin, Debbie Malin, also present: Lincoln Sander
Minutes of previous meeting were read and accepted.
Annual election of Commission officers. A slate was proposed by Michelle Rosenthal with Bruce Degen as Chair, Christine Degen as Vice Chair and Michelle Rosenthal as Secretary. Seconded by Bruce Degen. Vote by Commissioners: yeas unanimous. Elections opened. Election of slate was passed by unanimous vote of Commissioners.
October meeting date will be changed to October 7t\ 2010.
Joel Malin expressed interest in assuming the seat on the Commission vacated by Moira Rogers which ends June 2011. Conversation with First Selectman's Office on the feasibility of nonaligned voter assuming a Republican seat on the commission appears to be positive. Discussion of procedure to apply for the opening.
Report by Mark Alexander that Hattertown Historic District road sign on Aunt Park Road is missing as well as part of the armature from which it hangs. Degen will consult with Newtown Roads Dept. about replacement and repair.
Visit by Lincoln Sander, President of the Newtown Historical Society, who spoke about keeping the historic quality of the Sandy Hook Design District, which is not protected by the kinds of regulations that are in force in the Hattertown Historic District, and current issues before the P&Z in Sandy Hook.
Mark Alexander presented some information about the Deer Tick and Lymes disease being discussed in the Newtown Lymes Disease Task Force.
Debbie Malin discussed possible District-wide tag sale in the fall as a community event. Details TBD.
